This gorgeous family planned the perfect summer gathering—renting an Airbnb in Lafayette, California for a relaxing getaway with parents, grandparents, and kids all under one roof. What better way to celebrate than with a professional family photo session right on the property? Their Airbnb provided a stunning backdrop, with a tiled pool, lush greenery, and beautiful golden-hour light that made the whole evening feel like a scene from a summer dream. We captured the love and connection between generations—from playful moments with the little ones to sweet group shots with grandparents, siblings, and cousins. I think this family will be happy with the 152 images in their gallery, here are some of my favorites. And for $800 the 3 families have photos to cherish for a life time and of course, a photo for their Christmas card. Mason family Mini session, Martinez, CA One of my favorite things about outdoor photography is how much the light changes in just a short time. This sweet family session in Martinez, CA is the perfect example—and here’s something fun: the photos in this post are shared in reverse order, from the end of the shoot to the very beginning. By the time we finished our session, the sun had dipped behind the hills and we were left with soft, dreamy light. That gentle glow—often called “blue hour”—creates a calm, romantic feel that’s absolutely magical. Earlier in the session, though, we had full, golden sunshine pouring in, lighting up the field and wrapping everything in warmth. That golden hour sun gave us vibrant, energetic images full of life and glow. It’s amazing how both lighting styles can tell a different story. Some families love the warmth and sparkle of the sun-drenched golden hour. Others are drawn to the softness and calm of the cooler tones that show up just after sunset. There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to lighting—it’s all about what speaks to you. Personally, I adore both, but if I had to choose? There’s something magical to me about those last few minutes after the sun sets. The light gets quiet. Everything feels peaceful. It’s a perfect ending to a session, and a beautiful way to wrap up a story. Whether you’re team golden hour or team blue hour, I always time my sessions to give you a little bit of both. That way, you get a full range of tones and moods in your gallery—and maybe even discover a new favorite look you didn’t expect. Ready to book your own family session in Lafayette or beyond? Let’s find the light that feels like you. Are these Mommy and Me photos just to die for? They were the highlight of the session for me

Why Golden Hour is the Best Time for PhotosGolden hour—the dreamy period just before sunset—creates a soft, warm glow that enhances every shot. The sun's gentle rays cast a golden hue, making skin tones look radiant and adding a magical touch to the entire session. At Del Valle, the rolling hills become illuminated, creating an ethereal, storybook-like scene. Ready to Capture Your Own Family’s Story?Family photos aren’t just about smiling for the camera—they’re about preserving moments, emotions, and connections that will last forever. As the sun shone brightly on the rolling hills of the olive grove, the warm light cast a magical glow on the loving family of three in Vacaville, CA. Their little one, a curious and adventurous one-year-old, was the star of the show, capturing the hearts of everyone around. Our photoshoot was a beautiful blend of rustic charm, lush greenery, and joyful moments, creating memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. As we wandered through the grove, we stumbled upon an old International green truck, its vibrant color popping against the muted tones of the surroundings. The family eagerly climbed aboard, and we captured some amazing shots of them snuggled up together, with the little one perched proudly on the edge of the truck bed. The truck added a fun and nostalgic touch to the photos, and we couldn't resist taking a few more shots with it as the centerpiece. As the sun began to set, we made our way to the nearby lavender fields, where the soft purple blooms stretched out as far as the eye could see. The sweet scent filled the air, and the family couldn't resist running through the rows, laughing and spinning in the fading light. We captured some breathtaking shots of mom and son surrounded by the lavender.
