Some sessions feel a little extra special, and this one was definitely one of them. This beautiful newborn session welcomed the newest little girl into a family I’ve come to know over the years. The proud grandmother, Mrs. Higgins, happens to be my own kids’ history teacher at the only junior high in town. If you live here, chances are you know her — she’s one of those teachers who truly makes an impact on the community and the students she teaches. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of photographing all four of the grandbabies, and it’s become a tradition I absolutely love. She recently told me that she has a framed photo from each of their newborn sessions hanging proudly in her home, and she’s been eagerly waiting to add this newest baby to the wall beside the others. Hearing that is the kind of thing that makes my job so meaningful — knowing these photos become part of a family’s story for years to come. This session was especially sweet because these two little ones are both girls, and big sister was so curious and gentle with her new baby sibling. Watching siblings meet and interact during newborn sessions is always one of my favorite moments. There’s something so genuine and tender about those early connections. For this shoot, we kept everything soft and neutral, which is one of my favorite styles for newborn photography. Neutral tones keep the focus exactly where it belongs — on the babies, their tiny features, and the love between them. Creams, soft whites, and warm natural colors create a timeless look that will still feel beautiful decades from now when these girls are grown. Newborn sessions are best when babies are around 2 weeks old, when they are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet newborn poses. Because of that small window, I always encourage families to book their session early during pregnancy. The best time to get on the calendar is during your second trimester, which helps ensure you don’t forget during the busy final weeks of pregnancy and guarantees a spot once baby arrives.
It’s always such a joy watching families grow, and being trusted to document each new chapter means the world to me. I can’t wait to see this little girl’s photo framed on the wall next to her cousins and siblings — another piece added to a beautiful family story. Welcome to the world, sweet girl.

Sweet baby Gianna’s session was one I will never forget.
Her newborn photos were originally scheduled just days after she arrived, and like so many parents, her family was excited to capture those first sleepy moments. But life took an unexpected and frightening turn — Gianna’s mom was suddenly in the ICU, fighting for her life. Those early days that are usually filled with newborn snuggles and celebration became filled with worry, strength, and survival. Thankfully, six weeks later, everything changed. Mom was healing, Gianna was growing, and this beautiful family was finally able to come into the studio together. What was meant to be a simple newborn session turned into something so much more — a session full of gratitude, emotion, and the kind of love that fills every corner of the room. We captured not only Gianna’s sweet face and tiny details, but also the joy of having the whole family together again. And most importantly, we made space for mommy photos — the kind that mean even more after a journey like theirs. This session was a reminder that photos aren’t just about how things look… they’re about what they mean. Gianna’s gallery is a celebration of resilience, family, and the miracle of being together. Welcome to the world, baby girl. You are so deeply loved. There’s something truly special about photographing a family as they welcome a new baby, and Zion’s newborn session was filled with love, warmth, and beautiful moments. As a Bay Area photographer with a studio in downtown Martinez, I get to witness these once-in-a-lifetime memories every week, but each family and baby brings their own unique story. Zion was just about two weeks old at his session, which is the perfect window for those dreamy, sleepy newborn poses. Scheduling a photoshoot around two weeks old allows babies to stay curled, relaxed, and cozy — ideal for capturing those timeless newborn portraits. His parents did an amazing job planning ahead by booking their photoshoot in the 2nd trimester, which guaranteed a spot on my calendar and made the whole experience stress-free once baby arrived. If you’re expecting and thinking about newborn photos, I recommend booking your session during your 2nd trimester and planning to schedule the photoshoot around 2 weeks old. My studio in downtown Martinez is fully stocked with wraps, backdrops, bonnets, and outfits, making your session simple, comfortable, and beautifully styled. Zion’s session was a perfect reminder of why I love being a Bay Area photographer. Capturing these early days for families is an honor, and I can’t wait to watch this little one grow.
Welcoming Baby J — And Celebrating Big Brother SThere is nothing I love more than welcoming back families I’ve photographed before. Two years ago, I had the absolute joy of photographing big brother Sebastian as a newborn, and now I’ve had the honor of capturing his new role as proud big brother to sweet baby Julian. Repeat families truly fill my heart — watching your family grow is one of the best parts of this work.
Baby J arrived just in time for the coziest season, so of course we leaned into all things fall. Warm tones, soft textures, and a sprinkle of pumpkins made the perfect setup for this November baby. And with the holidays right around the corner, we added a simple, sweet Christmas setup to get this family ready for the upcoming season of celebration. This session resulted in a very large gallery — over 120 images! Honestly, far too many favorites to choose from. Big brother brought all the smiles, and baby slept like a dream, making it one of those sessions that just flows with ease and sweetness from start to finish. A huge shout-out to Mom, who did an incredible job with wardrobe selection. The soft, coordinating tones photographed beautifully and created such a timeless look for their family portraits. Styling truly makes all the difference, and she nailed it! If you’re expecting a baby in 2026, now is the perfect time to secure your session. Getting on the calendar early means one less thing to think about once your baby arrives — because we all know how wonderfully busy life becomes. The besttime to book your newborn session is during your second trimester. I can’t wait to meet the new babies — and welcome back the wonderful families — who will walk through my studio doors in the year ahead. Book your 2026 newborn session now and let future-you breathe a sigh of relief! There’s something incredibly special about welcoming a new baby into the studio—and baby Teddy completely stole our hearts.
Teddy came in for his newborn session at just a few days old, and he was an absolute dream to photograph. We started off with family portraits—soft, simple, and full of love. Mom and dad wore beautiful earth tones that complemented Teddy’s cozy, neutral-toned outfit. The love between them was so natural and gentle, making every frame feel magical. One of my favorite moments from this session was capturing Teddy in the frog pose—a classic newborn position that highlights baby's sweet little features and flexibility (when safely done with support and editing, of course!). Teddy absolutely rocked it! And because his name is Teddy, we couldn’t resist putting him in a little bear hat for some themed shots—how could we not? A Teddy bear for baby Teddy just made perfect sense, and it was as cute as you can imagine. 🧸✨ As always, this session took place in my cozy Downtown Martinez studio, which is fully stocked with wraps, outfits, and props—so all parents have to do is bring baby and relax. Whether you're a fan of neutral tones or want a bit more color, everything is customized to fit your vision while keeping baby safe and comfortable. Thank you to this lovely family for trusting me to capture these first, fleeting days with their baby boy. Interested in booking your newborn session? The ideal time for photos is when baby is between 1–2 weeks old. I recommend booking while you're still pregnant to secure your spot on the calendar. Reach out anytime—I’d love to help you plan a session that feels just right for your growing family. |
